"The Party is Over" 1992, acrylic painting, 30" x 20"
Craig Witt was my first significant other who sincerely loved me. Ours was a relationship of honesty and commitment. He loved my family as much as he loved me. He became my mother's second son. Craig was HIV positive during the time of fear, panic, and little hope of survival. We were granted ten years of happiness before he was taken away. Our weapon for survival was to constantly celebrate the life we had for as long as we had. We kept our home filled with family and friends celebrating birthdays and all holidays. If we ran out of holidays, we made up our own. This is one of the first painting I did after he passed away, "The Party is Over".
